SCHOLARSHIPS

 

PLATO

This scholarship will cover 75% of tuition for one academic year, in the form of a tuition discount. Students who receive this grant will be required to fulfill 12 hours of volunteer work per week during the academic year. 

 

Specific Requisites:  All applicants should be students of the MA, One Year, or Fluency program at Polis or have begun the application process for the program. All applicants will be required to submit a writing sample once the application form and other documents have been submitted.

HYEROSOLYMA

This scholarship will cover 50% of tuition for one academic year, in the form of a tuition discount. Students who receive this grant will be required to fulfill 10 hours of volunteer work per week during the academic year.

This scholarship will cover 25% of tuition for one academic year, in the form of a tuition discount. Students who receive this grant will be required to fulfill 7 hours of volunteer work per week during the academic year.

VIRGILIUS

This scholarship will cover 100% of tuition for one academic year, in the form of a tuition discount. Students who receive this grant will be required to fulfill 20 hours of volunteer work per week during the academic year.  

 

Specific Requisites:  All applicants should be fluent in Latin and students of the MA, One Year, or Fluency program at Polis or have begun the application process for the program. All applicants will be required to submit a writing sample once the application form and other documents have been submitted.

PHILO OF ALEXANDRIA

This scholarship will cover 75% of tuition for one academic year, in the form of a tuition discount. Students who receive this grant will be required to fulfill 12 hours of volunteer work per week during the academic year. 

That person would have to follow all the possible levels of Greek as well as a special program of readings. If requested by the Greek Department, the grantee would start teaching the third year 6 hours a week (“Greek Lunches” and half of Ancient Greek, Level 1) and the following year 12 hours a week (Ancient Greek, Level 1, Greek Readings, Greek Lunches). The grantee will commit to be available to teach at Polis Institute at the end of the scholarship for at least 3 semesters.

Specific Requisites: All applicants should be students of the MA in Ancient Philology at Polis Institute or have begun the application process for the program. If the candidate has already an MA, the registration requested could be on the Fluency Program for Ancient Greek. All applicants will be required to submit a writing sample  once the application form and other documents have been submitted. All candidates should have at least permanent residence in the country. All candidates are required to hold a BA.

DEMETRIUS

Demetrius 1: The recipient of this scholarship will teach 400 academic hours of Ancient Greek in the 2019-2020 academic year, with 10 hours per week in the fall and spring semesters, and 90 AH over the intensive Greek course in the August - September term. The recipient of this grant will receive a tuition discount and a stipend.

 

Demetrius 2: The recipient of this scholarship will each 271 academic hours of Ancient Greek in the 2019-2020 academic year, with 6hours per week in the fall and spring semesters, and 30 AH over the intensive Greek course in the August - September term. This candidate may also be asked to coordinate the Greek department and teach a total of 61 AH in the Emphasis in Teaching Ancient Languages track. The recipient of this grant will receive a tuition discount and a stipend.

 

Specific Requisites: Candidates should have a BA in one of the fields of Humanities. They should have reading and speaking fluency in Ancient Greek and the experience to teach the language.

ARCHIMEDES

This scholarship will cover 100% of tuition for two academic years, in the form of a tuition discount. Students who receive this grant will be required to fulfill 30 hours of volunteer work per week in promotion during the academic year. 

The recipient will receive a stipend up to 3,600 NIS per month. An additional stipend of 5,000 NIS may be awareded by the Management committee based on merit. Failure to fulfill the requirements will result in the revocation of the scholarship and the student will be responsible for paying the tuition in full. 

Specific Requisites: Candidates should be students of the MA in Ancient Philology program at Polis or have begun the application process. Candidates should also have demonstrable experience with Microsoft Office, Photoshop, website design, and social media.

HOW TO APPLY:

In order to apply for a Scholarship, the candidate should submit a completed and signed application form and a letter of motivation to the Administrative Office (contact below) before the specified deadline (according to the call of each scholarship). A recommendation letter describing the candidate's professional and personal qualifications should be sent directly from a non-academic reference. Candidates should also submit a signed letter confirming their financial need for the scholarship.  This application must be submitted alongside or after the submission of the admissions application. Candidates may be contacted for video interviews.

 

Once the documentation is received by the Office, the Polis Board will study it. The Board will decide within one month from the deadline. Each call for scholarships will specify the criteria for the selection, according to the aim of the scholarship, as well as the terms that are to be respected by the selected candidate.The selected candidates will receive an official letter requesting a confirmation of acceptance of the Scholarship.
