Jerusalem’s newest hiking trail visits a site from the Gospels and more
Henri Gourinard, a licensed tour guide in Israel and also a lecturer in historical geography and ancient Near Eastern history at the Polis Institute, describes the competing views on the location of Emmaus, where the resurrected Jesus broke bread with Cleopas, and a new hiking trail that guides visitors to perhaps the best candidate, Emmaus Nicopolis. Henri is the author of A Guidebook for the Emmaus Trail (soon to be released, Polis Institute Press) and the force behind the new one-year Jerusalem Studies Program set to launch at Polis this Fall Semester. The full story appears on the Biblical Archaeology Society website.
